Molly McLaughlin Intro

Hello, My name is Molly McLaughlin. I am a senior Comm studies major, minoring in sociology and graduating this May. I am 21 (I'll be 22 in about a month!) from Ralston Nebraska. I have been at UNL since my freshman year in 2010 where I started off an undecided and eventually landed in a Comm major my sophomore year after I took a communication in small groups class and really loved it.  I have only taken 2 online course so far, this one being my third, so I am not super familiar with all of it, but with working 2 jobs I needed the free time off campus.  I have been working for 2 research projects on campus at UNL since the beginning of my junior year, both with the child youth and family studies department, doing data work and other tasks around the office.

Why intercultural communication? Well I have been taking a variety of comm courses and this one sounded extremely interesting.  I was originally enrolled in a business communications course, but after looking over the syllabus I realized it was not something I would truly enjoy and decided to switch over to this course (hence the late post). I plan to take my career after graduation either to human resources or academic admissions, so I feel either one of those would benefit with a better understanding of diversity and different cultures.

I spend most of my free time hanging out with the people I love, friends and family of course but my two favorites are my fiancé, Tony and our little Boston terrier, Moe.  My current hobbies are really all based on wedding planning, which will take place in April 2015 but besides that I love taking Moe for walks, camping, baking, being a chiefs season ticket holder and being slightly obsessed with Walt Disney World.
