The Concept I decide to pick when looking at people from small town is migrant, the book defines migrant as "an individual who leaves the primary cultural context in which he and she was raised and moves to new cultural context for a extended time". I was first introduced to people from small town when I moved into college. A lot of my friends who lived on my floor were from small towns in Nebraska. These kids were moving into a city that in some cases were four times bigger then their town. It was interesting to watch them get used to living with so many people.
It has been fun talking to my friends about this subject, I have learned more about what it truly meansto be from a small town. I have planned a trip to Bloomfield, Nebraska for later this month. I am excited to see how growing up in a small town is different from growing up in a big city. I will only be there for a weekend, however I think the first hand experience will allow me to see to understand more about small towns and how they work. I am excited to learn more about small towns.
This seems like a very interesting topic. I am from a city but many of my friends are from small towns in Nebraska and hearing stories about how they grew up are interesting. It's a good experience to hear about how growing up in a small town can shape many of your views.
